Towards the end of last year, Liore and I were chatting, and she mentioned that she was looking at potentially trying to do a video-based show where she got to talk about movies. I, of course, being the proper hanger-on, offered up my services as a contributor. I think I also suggested that we start naming these efforts in a way that would bring them all more neatly under the Totally Legit Publishing umbrella. Well, today, I am proud to announce that we have produced the first episode of Totally Legit Movies, which can be viewed either below or over at our YouTube channel.
We have decided to, for the moment, focus on underappreciated movies that deserve another viewing. In some cases, these will be classics (cult, or otherwise) that we have seen before. In other cases, we will work on filling in gaps in our own viewing history (I’ve never seen The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, or The Shining! Liore has never seen Toy Story!). And, in yet other episodes, we will try to expand our horizons into entire genres that we avoid for one reason or another – like horror, because it is scary.
I’m really grateful to Liore for letting me be a part of this. She has done a wonderful job editing the podcast, and I think this is a tremendous first-cut at video editing, too! She has been putting in a ton of hours on these things, and it totally shows through.
So, without further ado, I present the first episode of Totally Legit Movies, in which the slasher flick You’re Next (2013) and cult classic Tank Girl (1995) are discussed. Please take a look, let us know what you think, and leave a comment with your own underappreciated movie!
